Pico Bonito Waterfall

Once again, Ken and I trekked out to the Pico Bonito Waterfall. We went with our friends Luke and Cary and it was a great getaway for a few hours from the hustle and bustle of La Ceiba. We ended up getting started pretty early on Saturday morning (around 8am) and were on the trail by 9. It took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the waterfall and about 55 minutes to get back. It is only a 4 kilometer trail but  we were all dead at the end. Our legs were shaking and all we wanted to do was sit down and relax! The waterfall was beautiful due to all the rain we have been getting and the boys enjoyed themselves by playing in the water. Some things never do change.

Field Trip to Rancho San Luis

On Wednesday, Jessie and I took our classes to Rancho San Luis, a farm just outside of La Ceiba, to finish our units on Animals and Plants. We focused on the life cycles of animals, vertebrates, basic needs of all living things, and adaptations. It was a HOT day with hardly any clouds in the sky which was a relief since it had been raining everyday for the past week, however our kids would beg to differ. They were a bit uncomfortable at times with the heat and the sun even though they've lived in Honduras all of their life!! With the 3rd and 4th grade classes we had about 50 students total which was a handful along with 10 parent chaperones. They kids had a great time and they LOVED looking at the animals. Take a look :)

Teaching some lessons before the fun begins :)

They knew all the answers...we taught them well!

Can you name the 5 groups of vertebrates???

What is in our sink?

I came home from work this afternoon and was relaxing before I realized I forgot to get the laundry from the dryer last night. As I walked out there with the hamper, I happened to peer into the sink and behold....this is what I saw!!!

GROSSSSS! I freaked out and luckily Ken was home to go and investigate....and take some pictures. I don't think I'll be able to go back there, or do any laundry, until the little guy leaves! Ahhhhhh!!!

On a happier note: This will help me get my mind off of the crazy thing in our sink...

GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE...YUM!!!!!!
